Netflix is aiming to improve its discovery experience by developing an entirely new search interface that utilizes AI technology. This was stated by the company’s CEO, Greg Peters, during the conference call for their first quarter earnings.

“Netflix has been trying to build hands-on search which utilizes generative technologies for interacting and searching for different titles,” Peters mentioned.

Answering an analyst’s question about their popular titles, Peters shared that the company’s most talked about shows garner only 1% of viewership which makes it crucial for the company to focus on improving the search ecosystem.

Peters further remarked, “Improvement on the recommendation and search functionalities will lead to provide more value to members and wider audience for the company’s various titles.”

Bloomberg recently reported that Netflix has started OpenAI-powered search trials with some users from New Zealand and Australia.

The company has also begun testing a redesigned home page on its TV app featuring a new layout for presenting show titles and descriptions, with plans for broader implementation later this year.

“This is something that we hadn’t made big structural changes to in over a decade.” Peters stated, “We believe that this will significantly improve Netflix’s discovery experience. We’ve been polishing and improving that experience based on the input we got from members who utilized it.”

The corporation claimed that its first-quarter revenue climbed 12.5 percent, reaching $10.54 billion, compared to the same period last year.
